Easy {No Cook} Pumpkin Spice Playdough

This is the perfect fall playdough recipe to add to your collection. This recipe requires but a few ingredients. Playdough is a life saver and will keep your kiddos busy for a little while. The pumpkin spice scent makes the playdough even more enjoyable. I had a blast just making the playdough.

Ingredients

  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups cornstarch (you can substitute flour but you may need more cups of flour than the recipe calls for)
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice seasoning
optional:
nutmeg
cinnamon
vanilla extract

You probably don't need the nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract but I really wanted this recipe to smell amazing. Not to mention I have a ton of the stuff in the pantry. This was a good excuse to use my baking spices.
There is a video of the instructions for those that like a visual. Check it out below.

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the can of pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, (other dry spices). Add 1cup of cornstarch and mix with a large spoon. You may not need the entire 2 cups of cornstarch. Mix until well with a spoon until you cannot mix anymore.  Remove the dough and knead the dough with your hands. You will know the playdough is complete when its no longer sticky.

Below is the finished product. I added pumpkin seeds for further exploration.

Since this is a no cook recipe it will only last for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Store in an airtight container. My container's lid was not staying put so I wrapped the container with plastic wrap before putting the lid on.

Preschool Transition Tips and Songs

What is a transition? A transition is a period where you are moving from one activity to another. Transitions can be a trying time and the hardest part of your day. But it doesn’t have to be. Transitions need to be consistent (scheduled) and as short as possible. Children often act out when they are waiting too long for the next activity to start. Minimize your transitions so that your children are not waiting longer than 5 minutes. Fill the time with a song appropriate for the activity- sing a song about food during lunch time, sing a clean up song after center time, sing a goodbye song at dismissal. Planning your transitions in advance will make your life and your child’s life a lot easier. Choose a song or phrase for each activity so your child will know what to expect. Singing the same song or playing a song for a particular activity will provide your child with stability and a sense of control. There are so many things out of a child’s control that they often resist transit...

Preschool/Kindergarten Patriotic Theme

Patriotic Theme I lived in NJ growing up so I always watched the Macy’s Fireworks in person every year. It was one of my mom’s favorite things to do. I shared in that enjoyment. I could not wait for the time my own son was old enough to enjoy the festivities. These are some of the activities that we decided to try. I wish we had time to try them all. However, we will have to wait until next year. Some of these activities can be done for Memorial Day. Block Area Do you have a future architect or Lego fan?
