Summer Sensory Ideas

Sensory play is also called messy play. Children and even adults use sensory to process their feelings and the world around them. Sensory play is open ended and develops many skills. It fosters creativity, language, and promotes sensory development. You can incorporate any lesson you are working on and make it a hands-on activity.

The best way to teach your child is without them knowing! Have fun! Tag @beelieveacademy on your projects💟.

Easy DIY Watercolor Paint🖌

¾ cup water

¼ cup light corn syrup

1 tsp cornstarch

 Food coloring

Directions:

  1. Mix water, corn syrup and corn starch in a mixing bowl.

  2. Add food coloring. For simple light watercolors, add one drop of food coloring. Add drops until you get the desired color. For the little ones, I like to have less food coloring for less intense color.

Puffy Paint

Glue

Scissors

Food coloring

Shaving cream (make sure its the foamy kind)

Ziploc bag (optional)

Directions:

1. Make the puffy paint mixture using equal parts shaving cream and glue. Place the shaving cream and glue into a bowl.

2. Add food coloring and mix well.

3. You can put the puffy paint into a ziploc bag for easier application for tiny hands. Close the bag and snip a tiny corner off. Squeeze the paint through the opening.

Ice Painting

This simple ice painting is a cool summer activity but can be done any time of the year. I did this activity in the tub during the spring time right before the boys bath so it would be easy clean up. I plan on doing this activity again outside this summer.

Earth Day

Earth Day is almost upon us.  Earth Day began in 1970 after Gaylord Nelson, a senator from Wisconsin, decided to organize a national “teach in” to educate people about protecting the environment. Since then, multiple environmental agencies have developed such as the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, the Water Quality Improvement Act, and the Endangered Species Act. In year 2020, we celebrated our 50th Earth Day.
